Since 2005, Sandra Payne of SPwrite Productions has focused on writing feature screenplays. She put the finishing touches on two period drama scripts last year (2006). One of them, a biography about Mother Teresa, has been selected as an official project of the government of India and is currently optioned.

Sandra’s debut short film, “The Secret Lives of Shopping Carts,” WON a bronze award at WorldFest Houston in 2001 for best original comedy short and appeared in more than eight festivals around the country. It was shot on Super 16 and then blown up to 35mm.
Winner! In 2004, she produced, co-wrote and co-directed (with talented comedian, actor and director,Troy Grant) one of the three trailer winners for the Austin Film Festival. Check out “Hip, Hip, Hurr-Austin” in the “Play Short Films” area of this site.

“Ooga Ooga,” her first mini-DV short, played at the 2005 Los Angeles International Short Film Festival.
Her short script, “Sometimes, Life Sucks,” was a finalist in the Movie Poet short script contest. Production planned for…sometime.
Sandra earned a master’s degree in English from the University of North Texas where she specialized in screenwriting. She’s been writing ever since.
